Anemia (Anaemia)

Anaemia causes paleness

Anaemia is a term indicating a low level of haemoglobin in the blood. Haemoglobin is a complex compound that is found in red blood cells, gives these cells their colour and is used to transport oxygen in the blood from the lungs to the heart and later to the organs, tissues and cells. A major component of the haemoglobin molecule is iron.

There are many different types of anaemia that vary widely in their cause and severity.
