Penis Prosthesis

Penis ProsthesisMen who are unable to obtain an erection by other means can have an implant or prosthesis inserted into the penis. It consists of a pair of inflatable sausage shaped tubes that run the length of the penis, with a bulb and valve in the scrotum. The bulb is squeezed to pump up the prostheses and cause an erection, When the erection is no longer required, the valve is compressed to release the fluid in the prostheses back into a reservoir that is implanted in the lower abdomen.

A less common device is a semi rigid rod that is inserted into the penis and can be manipulated to cause a partial but usable erection.
