Satiety is the state of having sufficient food in the stomach to be satisfied and to no longer feel hungry. In other words, satiety is the state of not being hungry or of being full.

There is a satiety centre in the hypothalamus of the brain that reacts to stretching of the stomach to reduce hunger. In obese people the satiety centre may not respond appropriately to stomach stretching.
