Saturated Fats

Saturated fats (fatty acids) have all their carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon chain joined by single bonds.

The foods that contain a lot of saturated fats include fatty meats (pork, beef, lamb), butter, cheese, coconut oil and palm oil.

A diet high in saturated fats leads to obesity and an increase in heart disease and strokes due to arteriosclerosis (hardening and narrowing of arteries).
