Testicular sperm extraction (TESE) is the direct removal of a small number of sperm from the tubules of the testicle with a fine needle attached to a syringe to enable an intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) procedure. The procedure may be painful for a minute or two. It is useful in men with very low rate of sperm production who wish to make their partner pregnant.
